McCain's racial slurs

so i was at the dealership n my co-worker ask who im voting for. not sure if i'm voting but if i did it'd probably be Obama. he said "must be cuz of wat mccain said bout asian people. i have no idea what he meant but i googled it. n apparently mccain said "i hate the gooks and i will hate the gooks forever" back in 2000. now how the hell is it that this man is still in the running for presidency? yeah yeah i know he was a P.O.W for 6 years. but does that make it ok? shit i went to all white schools growing up n heard chink at least once a day. does that give me the right to say i hate crackers? i do say that to a white dude when he piss me off. but umm im not running for president! my question is how is it he still have a chance to be our next prez when other candidates was quick to get their ass kicked out for shit not anywhere near as racial as this?

when he said gook he was referring to the vietnamese who held him captive for all those years. a slip up, and i understand that.
