Hi!
I really wanted to learn japanese the right way, I've learned only a few things but I'd rather have a tutor...
Anyway, for those who have more time to study from the web, here is a good site for vocabulary and also maybe one of the greatest japanese teaching sites, though it hasn't got much grammar:
http://www.basic-japanese.com/
Some other good sites, with grammar included:
http://maktos.jimmyseal.net
http://sp.cis.iwate-u.ac.jp/sp/lesson/j/doc/japanese.html
other possibilities (lists of sites):
http://www.theforeigner-japan.com/links/language/
http://infohost.nmt.edu/~armiller/japanese/japanrf.htm
Remember, first learn the katakana (syllable symbols most useful for foreigners and foreign words), then the hiragana (syllable symbols used only for japanese words), then learn a little vocabulary, some grammar, make some sentences and then the Kanji (the symbols that mean a whole word)
Hope they're useful!
